Last Friday evening Matt and I had the opportunity of a lifetime.
We attended a private tour of Peller Estates @ Niagara-on-the-Lake including a five-course meal with wine pairings thanks to the company Matt had attended a seminar at during the week.
Aren’t wineries beautiful?
We aren’t too shabby ourselves.
We learned how the wine is made.
We tasted their award-winning signature wines.
After a tour of the kitchen and the opportunity to meet the chef for the evening, we began the 5 course meal and learning how each wine was paired with the meal.
The first course was so good I forgot to take a picture, but just imagine a Lake Erie Perch over salad greens with goat feta. Even though I’m not a “fish” person it was amazing. It was paired with Peller’s Muscat Private Reserve.
Next to dazzle the palette was the chilled watermelon soup with a scoop of fresh basil ice cream. I know you’re thinking those are unusual flavors to pair together, but they were quite refreshing! This course was paired with one of my favorite wines- Gewürztraminer!
Pan seared sea scallops over white radish, sea asparagus, morel and black truffle. Matt loves black truffle! This course was paired with Peller’s Sauvignon Blanc Signature Series. Simply amazing!
The main course of the evening was the Veal “Saltimbocca” with caramelized salsify baton ad woodland mushroom. Even though I didn’t think I was a veal person, this dish changed my mind! IT was paired with Peller’s Cabernet Franc Signature series and both flavors really work together.
Last up was a simple, yet tasty dessert. Strawberry Gamay Parfait with meringue kiss and paired with Peller’s Cabernet Franc Ice Wine Signature Series. Ice Wine is my favorite!
We capped off our amazing evening at Peller Estates with a cappuccino. Our six hours spent touring, learning, tasting, chatting, wining, and dining were so much fun and an opportunity to never turn down!
Have you tried ice wine? Do you love it as much as me?
